Policy and Community Impact Director

Nancy Olivares is the Policy and Community Impact Director at the UCLA Pritzker Center for Strengthening Children and Families, where she leads community engagement, and policy initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for children and families across California.

Prior to joining the UCLA Pritzker Center, Nancy served as Government Affairs Manager for California Humanities and spent several years working with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Her early career began in Washington, D.C., as an intern for the House Democratic Caucus in Congress, sparking her deep commitment to public policy and social justice.

She has held roles as a consultant for the ACLU of Southern California’s Education Equity Project, and as a policy advocate for The Children’s Partnership, a statewide nonprofit focused on advancing children’s health equity. Nancy also worked in the office of Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, where she deepened her knowledge of county systems and community-centered governance.

Nancy earned her Master of Public Policy degree from the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs, with a concentration in children and youth policy. During her graduate studies, she served as a Public Policy Fellow at the UCLA Pritzker Center, where her work focused on equity-driven systems reform and gender-based violence prevention.

Committed to giving back to her community, Nancy also serves as a Board Member and Scholarship Committee Chair for the Friends of Montebello Unified School District Foundation. She proudly grew up in East Los Angeles and remains deeply rooted in the community that shaped her passion for justice and public service.
