On May 27, 2026, the UCLA Pritzker Center held an event in Lancaster, bringing together Antelope Valley residents, partners, and UCLA researchers to share perspectives, discuss local priorities, and identify opportunities to strengthen systems serving children and families.
Following a presentation entitled, Child and Family Wellbeing in the Antelope Valley: A Landscape Assessment of Disparities, Progress, and Opportunity, roughly 200 attendees participated in small multidisciplinary group discussions in which they reflected on the current regional landscape, proposed community-driven responses to identified challenges, identified gaps in evidence that would help inform their work, and prioritized child welfare-related topics for future research and evaluation. This brief summarizes attendee feedback and outlines opportunities for the UCLA Pritzker Center to engage in research, evaluation, and technical assistance activities in service of the Antelope Valley community.
Antelope Valley Research Projects
AVENUE is a collaborative project with LA County DHS to improve access to high-quality, trauma-informed care for families in the Antelope Valley.
In 2023, the UCLA Pritzker Center launched a pilot study in partnership with Valley Oasis, a domestic violence service agency, and the DCFS Lancaster Regional Office to respond to recommendations in the earlier report.
The UCLA Pritzker Center conducted a landscape assessment to summarize key metrics related to child safety and family wellbeing, contextualize trends over the last decade, and identify opportunities to strengthen investments in resources for Antelope Valley families.
